My ping pong journey began at 5 years old when my mom took me to a professional ping pong school in China in 2001. I only trained there for 3 months, but I continued to train at a local club in Tokyo for the next 5 years. I focused on my academics and other hobbies (cello) during middle and high school. When I came to the US in 2015 for college, I was looking for some campus communities to join, and that’s when I found a ping pong club. Soon after discovering this community, I became a regular member, going on to become an officer as a freshman. I made most of my close friends from the club, participated in multiple National Collegiate Table Tennis Association (NCTTA) tournaments, and the highlight was placing 4th in NCTTA Nationals as captain of the Women’s team. I also won the mixed doubles championship in Amazon’s internal ping pong tournament, and my doubles partner later became my life partner. Today, I coach ping pong at multiple local clubs, participate in tournaments, and of course, work as a PRO at SPIN!
