My ping pong journey began with my father, Ralph Bockoven, who was a high-level US player with a rating peak of over 2200. He took me to a couple of local clubs in Waltham, MA when I was quite young to introduce me to the game and watch him play. At the age of about 9 or 10, I got really interested in the sport, and my dad purchased a table (a Stiga Rollaway) and gave my brother, Chase, and me each a Waldner Donic Dicon racket with Donic Desto rubber on both sides. That is the moment when I would say I became a ping pong player. Within a short period of time, I competed in many local club and tournament competitions and fell in love with the same game my dad had 30 years earlier.
